Art & Antiques Fair- LAPADA London
LAPADA is the association of art & antiques dealers since 1974. There are 550 members and although most of the members are from UK , 50 members are from 16 other countries. Membership is only offered to the ones who meet the experience, quality and knowledge criteria of the dealers.
Last week there was LAPADA Fair at London. It was on Berkeley Square at Marylebone.
Location was really easy to access and there were lots of dealers inside. I always first make a tour at the fair, check the stocks and prices. After that start to focus on the ones I am interested.
I like to start from one of my favourite porcelain company Meissen. There were two dealers selling Meissen but I prefer this one as this company has more beautiful stocks.
Alexandra Alfandary is a dealer at London and they are specialised on porcelain.
Meissen porcelain is ideal for collectors and there is always a market for them. I also want to make a collection of Meissen. Price range is 600-900 pounds depending on the product but if you are a loyal customer and if you say the dealer that you want to make a collection you can get a good discount.
The other dealer is Fileman Antiques which is located at West Sussex. I really loved their stocks they do have beautiful and unique chandeliers, check their website they have been doing this business since 1890s and it is a family company. I have met with Adam and they really know this business and I can say they are really customer friendly.
Other dealer I want to mention is Boccara Gallery based in Paris but they frequently visit London and work with galleries.
I know tapestries but these ones really impressed me. They are working with French artists and you can see the range from their website.
Most impressive thing was the care of the tapestries. I have met with Lune Chan from Boccara Gallery and she told me just hoovering will be enough for tapestry care.
Last dealer or maybe let me say one of my favourites is Holly Johnson Antiques and Design, based in Cheshire.
I really like Piero Fornasetti designs and also in this company I have seen really good design antiques and it worths to look.
And my discovery of this fair was painter Tina Spratt. I loved her paintings and what I have noticed she has multi awards and her prices are still affordable and it worths to invest. Check her website for her paintings and her two multi award paintings Slumber and Entwined.
